Item Description
A baker looks through her telescope and sees her future: the founding of the Cooperstown Cookie Company!( length 4.5" , width 3") Two smaller artworks featuring baking paraphernalia accompany the painting of a baker, all in a split wooden frame. (Length 2", width 3 1/4").This whimsical set of drawings conveys a sense of wonder and exuberance. The founder of the Cooperstown Cookie Company, Pati Grady, worked with the illustrator to create this lovely artwork.
The illustrator, Lonni Sue Johnson, has an interesting journey herself. A prominent illustrator for many years, she was afflicted with encephalitis in 2007 which was nearly fatal. She survived, but has severe memory loss and cannot remember anything more than two or three minutes ago. Remarkably, she continued to create art after her illness, though different than before. Because of her unique brain function, she aids Princeton and Johns Hopkins neuroscientists in their quest to understand more about the brain.
Ms. Johnson has also illustrated five New Yorker covers.
