My story is a little unique and therefore I am often asked why I don’t write a book. These two pieces (mask # 732 and this one) in The MASK Project are, in many ways, my first book. Having a rare disease called Gardner's syndrome has made more struggles in my life but that is in no way the feeling, the mood I hope you carry away from either Pain and Hope or Memoirs. I hope you see how these very trials have given me an inner security and peace with God that I may never have found otherwise.
Kimberly Schaefer is a local artist who grew up in metro Denver. In September, while a patient at The Denver Hospice’s Inpatient Care Center she saw an ad about The MASK Project and asked if it was open to any artist who wants to help. Naturally, the response was that they'd love for her to do it! Her 2 masks were made in less than a week, all while admitted to the Inpatient Care Center on hospice care.
