Item Description
The book "Letters from America" was published January, 1916. The author, Rupert Brooke started on a journey to the United States and the South Seas, from which he returned next the year at the beginning of June. The first thirteen chapters were written as letters to the Westminster Gazette. The two remaining chapters appeared in the New Statesman, soon after the outbreak of war.
The book "The Collected Poems and Letters from America" has a copyright, 1915 by Dodd, Mead & Company. Printed in U.S.A. Rupert Brooke was both fair to see and winning in his ways. There was at the first contact bloom and charm; and most of all there was life. To use the word his friends described him by, he was "vivid."
Rupert Brooke was born at Rugby, August 5, 1887. Fellow of King's College, Cambridge, 1913. Died in the Aegean, April 23, 1915.
Both books are in good condition.
