Item Description
The Fyodorovskaya image of the Most Holy Theotokos is a family icon of the Romanov Imperial Dynasty. According to the legend, the image of this type was miraculously obtained in the 13th century. The young Mikhail Romanov, the founder of the last dynasty of the Russian tzars, was blessed with this icon by his mother at the time of his ascension to the throne. This hand painted icon of the Holy Virgin Mary is made on silk which follows an ancient Russian technique of icon painting. The icon has been blessed at Alexander Nevsky Laura in St. Petersburg.
