Located 90 minutes from Washington DC, Belle Grove Plantation, the birthplace and a childhood home of President James Madison, was established in 1670 and built in 1791 on the banks of the Rappahannock River.
Belle Grove has hosted many historic people and witnessed many historic events: Being a site of England’s first colonization efforts in the New World, the American Revolution and Civil War.
You’ll stay in the Turner Suite, located on the second floor, with private bath and views of the river and front grounds. This professionally decorated, luxury, master suite, offers an 1860 “Half Tester” queen bed, gas fireplace, and original heart pine floors in the bedroom. The large two-room master bathroom has a claw foot soaking tub and separate shower. The Upper Hall, Sitting Area, waterfront and carriage side balconies are easily accessible. And, this room has a secret from the past!
Gourmet Breakfast is served each morning. Included, is a tour of the mansion and grounds.
