Moira Garcia is a mixed media artist, printmaker, and bookmaker.  She is a graduate of the Institute of American Indian Arts, and has also received art training from the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, the University of California in Santa Cruz, and the Santa Fe Community College.

Born in Gallup, New Mexico and raised on the island of Kaua’i, Hawai’i, her art reflects her diverse multicultural experience. She lives and works in Santa Fe and has exhibited at the Zane Bennett Contemporary Gallery, Museum of Contemporary Native Art, Red Dot Gallery, Rotunda Gallery, and El Museo Cultural.

Her current work explores conceptions of living and lost cultural knowledge, journey, and trajectory of Native America. The imagery and book culture of Pre-Columbian Mesoamerica serves as the primary inspiration for the book series Dualidad/Duality and Time Keepers. The process includes Japanese (Suminagashi) and Western marbling, xerox transfer of images, and Japanese stab binding technique. The images are chosen from the Codex Laud, Codex Borgia, and Madrid Codex, and depict Mesoamerican ritual, calendars, and cosmology.
