Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington has extensive, beautiful and historically accurate gardens and grounds as well as beautiful views and vistas. Washington created a landscape following the naturalist style popular in England. His pleasure grounds were planted for the enjoyment of his family and guests. His landscape features include an incredible view of the Potomac River, groves, boxwood hedges, ha-ha walls, kitchen, pleasure and botanic gardens and a fruit garden and nursery.
Dean is a graduate of Clemson University and has worked on the George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate for 46 years, specifically in the role of horticulturist since 1980. During this time, he has overseen the restoration of all of the garden enclosures on the property. This one-of-a-kind tour comes with a good-time guarantee! Stroll the gardens and grounds with Dean while he shares historical facts and fun stories about his 46 years working on the estate.
