The newest exhibit at the Middlesex Historical Society, running September 10, 2016 through 2017, A Vanished Port: Middletown & the Caribbean, 1750-1824. The exhibit explores Middletown’s rich maritime legacy and ties to the ‘triangle trade,’ the slave-based Caribbean sugar industry in the colonial and early federal eras. The exhibit was funded in part by Connecticut Humanities and the Hoffman Foundation.
