Canton Connections, is a non-profit, after-school program “where fun and learning meet.” The program has been providing a safe and welcoming environment for children in first through third grades for the last two decades.

Canton Connections is in session two days a week (on Wednesdays and Thursdays) from  3:45pm-5:45pm (on early release days from  1:20pm-3:45pm) for four eight-week sessions throughout the school year. School bus transportation is provided by the Town of Canton from the Cherry Brook Primary School to Trinity Episcopal Church, 55 River Road (Rt. 179) in Collinsville. The program is non-ecumenical in nature; Trinity Church provides the space in its Parish Hall free of charge for Canton Connections as part of their community outreach and support.

There is a happy vibe as soon as the children arrive! During the two-hour program the children enjoy:
  • healthy and delicious snacks
  • crafts and art projects
  • organized games outside (if weather permits) or inside
  • help with homework
  • social play opportunities
Each session has a maximum capacity of 20 children supervised by two adults along with several peer mentors. Program Director, Caryn Turek, has been with Canton Connections for 16 years and is assisted by Laurie Crowley (Wednesdays) and Carolyn Roberge (Thursdays), as well as volunteer teen mentors, many of whom were former participants of Canton Connections. The teens are wonderful role models and the children benefit from the attention, encouragement, support, and guidance the teens provide.
