Item Description

A mindfulness retreat for women who struggle with eating, exercise, body image and weight:

Despite what you may believe about eating, exercise and weight, the truth is, it takes tremendous effort to fight your body’s nature and restrict yourself from food or to exercise just for the sake of burning calories. This approach is simply not sustainable.

At Green Mountain, we help you end weight struggles by learning how to eat what you want in a way that makes you feel well, move your body for pleasure and well-being, begin to change negative body image, and manage other stress that may send you to food when you’re not hungry. Our program helps you overcome the attitudes and behaviors that get in your way, including struggles with emotional and binge eating.

Marsha Hudnall, MS, RD, CD, is president and co-owner of Green Mountain at Fox Run, a women’s weight management retreat in Vermont that pioneered the non-diet approach to healthy weights. Green Mountain was founded 40 years ago to help women stop dieting and learn how to truly take care of themselves to reach and maintain their natural healthy weights. Mindful eating has been a core component of the program for over 25 years.

In addition to overseeing a professional program that helps women establish sustainable approaches to healthy living, Marsha has made it her mission at Green Mountain to help women learn to enjoy food and eating again while successfully managing their weight and health. This is an area she is personally as well as professionally versed in: Marsha successfully overcame an eating disorder brought on by dieting. A thought leader when it comes to managing eating, emotions and weight, and a voice of reason for the last three decades in helping people move away from diets, Marsha serves on the boards of directors for the Binge Eating Disorder Association as well as The Center for Mindful Eating. An accomplished writer and speaker, she has produced curricula, books, pamphlets and articles in consumer magazines and professional journals about the impact of dieting on eating behaviors, including binge eating and emotional eating. In 2013, Marsha is publishing a book on his specific topic.

You can find Marsha on  Green Mountain at Fox Run's website, which features her writing in articles and on her blog  A Weight Lifted. Find her on Twitter @MarshaHudnall, on Green Mountain at Fox Run's Facebook, or email her at  Marsha@fitwoman.com.
