Her first love was poetry, but she earned a living as Oakland's first public librarian, where she mentored Jack London and fought gender discrimination in the workplace.

This special hardcover edition was printed to commemorate Coolbrith's centennial of being crowned California's first poet laureate. It is only available through the author at special events.
