Lydia Davis, acclaimed fiction writer and translator, is famous in literary circles for her extremely brief and brilliantly inventive short stories, sometimes called "flash fiction." Her most recent collection of stories, Varieties of Disturbance (May 2007), was featured on the front cover of the Los Angeles Times Book Review.
In 2003, she received one of 25 MacArthur Foundation genius grants and her earlier collection, Break it Down, earned Davis a spot as a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award and won her the Whiting Writer's Award.
Davis' other works include Almost No Memory, The End of the Story, Story and Other Stories, and The Thirteenth Woman.
