Item Description
Tiny Buddha charms adorn these uniquely crafted earrings, the red discs are hand-dyed coconut shell to which Ms. Collins adds the charms and red jasper beads. They're colorfast and featherlight.
Ms. Collins tells the story of she and her sister working on developing a line of jewelry using silver wire and beads, "They were okay but I thought there was something missing. One day I went for an eye exam and had my eyes dilated as part of the test. Afterwards I was practically blinded by the sun when I stepped outside. I don't know what possessed me but I hopped on a city bus and headed downtown. I ended up in a bead shop, looking for inspiration. Even though it was hard to see properly, I noticed strands of coconut shells strung on some line. The colors were really gaudy but there was something about them that intrigued me so I bought a couple of strands. I figured my sister and I could play around with them and see if we came up with anything. That's how our line of coconut shell earrings was born." Click here to read more.
