Item Description

A Caroline Williams' Sketch of Kilgour Elementary in a Black 12" by 15" Frame.

For nearly five decades her sketches of "A Spot in Cincinnati" appeared on the Sunday editorial pages of The Enquirer.

"In her own way, this talented person can be credited with preserving landmarks, many of which are fated to the bulldozer and wrecker in the name of progress," the newspaper said in 1968.

Her first "Spot in Cincinnati," a pen-and-ink sketch published in November 1932, was a view of the city skyline as seen from Liberty Hill. For the next 47 years, she sketched bridges and buildings, homes and hospitals, museums and monuments, as well as parks, cemeteries, statues, fountains, viaducts, inclines, churches, libraries and markets.
