Item Description

Exquisite Wall-hanging art quilt (55.5” wide x 74” long) with hanging sleeve on back. The quilt is machine pieced, appliqued, embroidered, quilted. The fish depicted include Golden, Yellowstone Cutthroat, Brown, Brook, and Rainbow Trout – all of which are found in the greater Yellowstone River area which is home to the CfR Montana Trailhead Country Program.

From the artist Tese Shekitka (Fly Fishing Coordinator and Program Co-Coordinator, CfR Montana Trailhead Country Program. Tese has been fly fishing for 40+ years and quilting for 20 years. This quilt combines her two passions) -  "The trout flies are 3-dimensional and depict the Adams, Bead-head Prince Nymph, Grizzly King, Royal Wulff, and Hot Pink Woolly Bugger (to honor all breast cancer survivors, naturally). Being both a fly fisher and a quilter when I saw this quilt pattern, I just knew that I had to make it to benefit my CfR Program. Most of the fabrics are batiks which lend themselves beautifully for portraying the trout and the water in which the trout live. It took about 250 hours to make this quilt, not including the hours spent finding just the right fabrics! Special thanks to two members of my quilt guild: Bobbi Bridgeman for her long-arm quilting skills and Denise Stenzel for her photographic skills."

This is an art quilt and is not meant to be used as a lap quilt due to the 3-D nature of the trout and trout flies. Washing is not recommended; use a lint roller to remove any dust.
