Artist Bio:
Karen Hellstern
Karen has extensive experience teaching children in both the US and Asia. She has worked in private schools, after-school enrichment classes, Montessori schools and has taught many home school classes to children ranging in age from 3-13. Karen has a special interest in teaching at risk children and created an art program for abused and neglected teenage girls at a private residential treatment facility.
Karen has been creating art for many years, but comes from a corporate background. When she and her family relocated to Asia in 2007, she was finally able to pursue her passion in the arts. While in Asia, she studied at the world renowned Singapore Art Museum as well as with several international artists. Her personal interests range from mixed media creations to acrylic painting and most recently, ceramics. New to ARTreach, you can find Karen teaching seniors at Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels locations and The Campanile at Jones Creek.
