Item Description
What do you like to do on St. John? Some like to party, and some like to swim with sea turtles (and some like to do both, let's be realistic!)
The Friends Seminar Series captures the best of St. John's local arts, culture, history and entertainment by showcasing the experts, veterans and old souls in our community to champion the activities you love most. You can take a tour with Park archeologist Ken Wild, learn about the history of rum with Kim Holland, or in this special item learn about our endangered turtles from National Park expert Thomas Kelley!
Thomas Kelley is the Natural Resource Manager for Virgin Islands National Park, and one of the most informed and passionate turtle conservationist you will ever meet. On this exciting excursion aboard the Castaway Girl II you will travel to Buck Island, St. Thomas to swim/snorkel with the many green and hawksbill turtles that make Buck Island their home year round.
Along the way Thomas will share how and why we protect the sea turtles native to our waters and share facinating information about these majestic, ancient animals. This is a wonderful way to spend your day, that will certainly inspire, entertain and make you feel good about your giving! Plus, you will be able to help spread the word about ways we can all protect our turtles!
Item Special Note
This seminar is offered on March 23, Thursday-1:00pm –5:00pm. You will call Friends (340) 779-4940 to confirm your reservation. You will meet at the Charlotte Amalie waterfront in St. Thomas (across from Greenhouse restaurant). You will need to bring $2 cash government departure fee, snack, water, sunscreen, hat, snorkel gear and swimsuit. In addition, gratuity for your captain and crew are always appreciated!
