Item Description
This two-color print features a subtle metallic blue Lake Michigan overlaid on her watershed, a reminder of how water quality issues from far inland all around her can impact the great lake.
Melanie Ariens is a multi-media artist, environmental advocate, and volunteer community coordinator. She uses her artistic talents to reflect the issues she cares passionately about. "Water issues have been especially important to me since college...Nature and the environment have always been important themes in my artwork, and for the past four years, I have focused on the Great Lakes and freshwater issues. The work is my way of merging art and environmental activism, creating a unique and unexpected ways of engaging viewers to generate concern and spur stewardship."

This piece, along with other artwork offered in our auction, will be on display and available for purchase at our Auction Art Night on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at Monona State Bank on Atwood Avenue in Madison. You’ll be able to see the art up close and meet some of the artists.
