The Napa Valley Wine Train is one of the most distinctive Napa restaurants, offering an authentic, memorable experience that echoes the glory days of train travel, with fine dining service, multiple course meals, Napa Valley scenery and ultimate relaxation aboard exquisitely restored vintage rail cars. This top dining establishment is housed in a museum quality, antique train that runs on 25-­miles of track in the heart of the Napa Valley. The train itself has two engines, three kitchens on board and a collection of early 20th century Pullman rail cars faithfully restored with Honduran mahogany paneling, brass accents, etched glass partitions and plush armchairs that evoke the spirit of luxury rail travel in the early 1900s. Take a trip into the luxurious American past and experience an unparalleled memory-­making journey.

The Gourmet Express Package has two seatings.

Guests who are assigned to first seating dine on fresh soup or salad and their choice of entree in the dining car while traveling up the valley, and will be served dessert with complimentary coffee or tea in one of the lounge cars on the return trip.

Those guests with a second seating assignment will be served appetizers and beverages in one of the lounge cars while heading North to St. Helena and will enjoy their fresh soup or salad, choice of entree and dessert in one of the dining cars on the return trip.

Meals, crafted by Executive Chef Donald Young, are prepared in a specially fabricated kitchen car located immediately adjacent to each dining area. Guests are encouraged to explore the Train and visit the kitchen car, equipped with windows which span its length so you can see our chefs in action.

Gourmet Express is available for lunch or dinner. During evenings in the Summer and Spring, the long, warm, California twilight means that the vineyards of the Napa Valley are bathed in beautiful, golden sunlight for most of the journey, with the opportunity to see some spectacular Napa sunsets. In the Fall and the Winter, when the train departs after sunset, you will experience the romance and adventure of an antique train traveling through the dark, Napa Valley night.

In the spirit of traditional rail seating, you may share a table with another party on the Gourmet Express Package during our lunch trains. If you would like to ensure a private table, a limited number of tables are available at lunch for parties of two. This premium seating is $15 per person. Private seating is also available in the Champagne Vista Dome and during dinner trains on the Gourmet Express Package.
