Private tour for 3-4 of the Dutch Galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (featuring Rembrandt, Vermeer, Hals among others) with Dr. Frima Fox Hofrichter.The discussion would touch on not just the artists and their unique qualities, but their subjects, issues of class, gender, work, patronage and economic level.
Frima is an art historian whose specialty is Baroque Art (17th-C) and more specifically Dutch and Flemish art. She is a Professor at Pratt Institute, former Chair of the History of Art and Design Department, author of Judith Leyster, A Woman Artist of the Golden Age; Haarlem: the Seventeenth Century; Leonaert Bramer, Painter of the Night; numerous articles and is a co-author of Janson's History of Art, the Western Tradition (writing the Baroque and Rococo sections).
