Item Description
This one-of-a-kind private tour (the Center for Jewish History does not offer private tours led by a Museum professional) of the exhibition: 500 Years of Treasures from Oxford; Manuscripts and books from the Library of Corpus Christi College, Oxford at Yeshiva University Museum
This exhibition of rare manuscripts (few ever displayed publicly) spans the 10th to 17th centuries and includes: a 13th Century commentary of Rashi, a siddur c. 1200, a 15th Century volume of Canterbury Tales, Hooke’s Micrographia, correspondence between Sir Isaac Newton and John Flamstead concerning Halley’s Comet, and other important manuscripts and objects from the Corpus Christi Library of Oxford College.
The tour at the Center for Jewish History, 15 West 16th St, can accommodate up to 10 people. It will be conducted during regular museum hours at some point during the run of the exhibition, which opens mid-May, 2017.
