We are changing the world by changing the lives of children. Envision a future where every child is healthy, active and ready to learn. Imagine a world where healthy children—body, mind and spirit—grow into healthy adults who contribute to a healthy society.

 That’s what the Naples Children & Education Foundation is all about, and this year’s Fund a Need initiative focuses on Children's Healthcare—dental, mental health, primary care and vision. You can make a profound difference in so many children’s lives by helping to ensure they are able to receive the medical attention that every child deserves.

 Poverty has increased almost 10% in the past decade in Collier County with more than half of the children identified as economically needy. These children are under heightened stress as a result of exposure to trauma, mental health concerns, poor academic achievement, inadequate healthcare, and loss of family.

•  16% of children in Collier County lack health insurance compared to the national average of 7.6%.
• Collier County is the third largest county of uninsured children in Florida.
• Children represent the most vulnerable segment of society and suffer disproportionately in terms of mortality risk.
• One in five children under the age of 18 has a diagnosable mental health disorder.
• 65% of third grade students in Collier County experience tooth decay.
• One in four children has an undetected vision problem.

NCEF grants provide children in need with essential medical and healthcare services that have measurable outcomes and a life-changing impact.

This year’s Fund a Need will support programs that promote Children’s Healthcare: 

$10,000

• Provides 50 children with complete health screenings
• Provides 70 children with eye exams performed by a Pediatric Ophthalmologist

$5,000

• Provides 10 children with a comprehensive dental exam
• Provides 25 children with mental health assessments

$2,500

• Provides 5 children with comprehensive dental exams.
• Provides 12 children with mental health assessments.

$1,000

• Provides 15 children with dental sealants
• Provides 20 children two pair of eyeglasses, one pair for school and one for home

$500

• Provides 2 children with complete health screenings.
• Provides 3 children with eye exams performed by a Pediatric Ophthalmologist.

$250

• Provides a child a chance of a healthier life with a Primary Care visit.
• Provides dental sealants for 4 children to help protect from tooth decay.

$100

• Provides two pairs of eyeglasses for two children, one pair for school and one for home.
• Provides a full day of Integrated Behavioral Health services (mental health screening, prevention & health promotion, assessment and diagnosis, intervention, and consultation) for 3 children.

 

Every dollar raised will go to support NCEF’s Children’s Healthcare to pave the way for a child to be successful in life.
