About Shannon

Shannon has worked with horses in many capacities throughout her life. As a facility manager, trainer, groom, competitor, and show secretary, she has learned to appreciate horses of many different breeds, temperaments, and disciplines. She understands that every horse and rider is different. Having  experience in a broad variety of disciplines, Shannon has a wide variety of skill building options and communication strategies that help her impart the mechanics of riding in a language that each rider will be able to assimilate. Her instruction is tailored to each horse and individual's level of experience. Consideration is given to each horse's age, conformation, level of training, and temperament. Whether you're an adult amateur, young rider, or competitor Shannon will help you and your equine partner succeed in whatever your goals may be.

Instruction with Shannon is a "hands-on" approach to training both horse and rider. Mounted and unmounted she will show you how to achieve communication with your horse and improve the quality of your riding experience. Shannon builds awareness to the rider's anatomy, range of motion, balance, and position, and instills understanding of how these factors influence the horse. Most riders, from beginners to lifelong equestrians, strive to attain a harmonious relationship with their horse. Shannon's training style enables and reinforces this relationship.

Training takes place in and out of the arena using various methods to help condition the horse and test the rider's balance in order to strengthen the confidence of both horse and rider.

Shannon has earned her USDF Bronze and Silver Medals and is currently working towards her Gold. She has competed and is trained up through FEI Intermediare in Dressage, and has trained horses to that level. Shannon has trained with Bruno Greber, Wendy Murdoch, Bob Orton, and other noted trainers throughout her riding career. She has competed in various disciplines including; eventing, hunt racing, fox hunting, Arabian and Andalusian breed shows in various categories, and competitive trail. Her experience also includes training, preparing, and competing stallions.
