Item Description

Escape the city for a special Shabbat with the BJ Young Families community! Families with children in 2nd grade and younger are invited to a fun and energizing Shabbat weekend at Camp Ramah Nyack from Friday, April 28-Sunday, April 30. From hiking trails, to theater workshops, to schmoozing time with fellow BJ parents, this weekend provides the perfect opportunity to spend time with your family in a meaningful way.

What the weekend will offer

  • Inspiring Shabbat services in Camp Ramah’s beautiful synagogue
  • Animal encounters and science exploration with Ari Safari
  • Theater workshops and an interactive performance with Mainstages theater group
  • Basketball, soccer, gaga, and other outdoor activities
  • Nature walk on Camp Ramah’s new hiking trails
  • Learning opportunities for kids and parents with Rabbi Felicia Sol, Hazzan Ari Priven, and other BJ staff members

What to bring

The camp is fully heated and provides comfortable accommodations with private bathrooms for each family. Linens and towels will also be provided. Keeping those things in mind, you will need:

  • Comfortable clothing for the weekend, including jackets, hats, walking shoes and rain gear (prepare for both indoor and outdoor activities)
  • Nicer but still comfortable clothing for Shabbat.  We are casual!   
  • Ritual items: kippot and tallit for Shabbat.
  • Sports equipment, musical instruments, board games or cards
  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste), flashlight, and water bottle for each family member

Camp Ramah is located in Rockland County, New York and is a 45 minute drive from the Upper West Side. Its address is:

As of now, families are responsible for arranging their own transportation. However, if there are enough families who express interest on the registration form, we will consider hiring a bus.
