Item Description
Come spend up to a full week in a rustic and extremely cozy cabin on a wild, brawling Pacific Northwest river. Our family cabin is right on the granite shores of the scenic South Fork Skykomish River, about 60 miles east of Seattle on US 2 near the town of Index on the way to Steven's Pass. This is a unique and extraordinarily wild, remote and beautiful property, located in old growth mixed cedar and Douglas fir forest right at a major bend of the South Fork at the very base of the dramatic North Face of Mt. Index. The cabin is old and rustic but very comfortable and well-appointed, with a wood stove, baseboard heat, flowing river water pumped up through a gravity pump, two bedrooms with king and queen beds, and a large sleeping loft with two single beds and room for sleeping pads. There is no septic system, but an outhouse is located about 50 feet from the front door. There is a primitive shower that can be accessed for minimal use. There is also a pull out sofa, so it can comfortably fit at least two families and can stretch to accommodate 3. The cabin has a well-equipped kitchen. There is an expansive deck with views of the river and mountain. The cabin is less than 40 minutes from Steven's Pass for Winter skiing, and is ideal for languid Summer rafting, fishing and relaxing.
