Item Description
1967 – 2017 … A 50 year Birthday for Piemonte’s Best

One 750 ml Massolino Barolo, DOCG
One 750 ml Borgogno Barolo
One 750 ml Marcarini Barolo
One 750 ml Produttori Barbaresco
One 750 ml G. B. Burlotto Barolo
The year is 1967….the first ATM was invented, and the First Super Bowl was played by the Green Bay Packers and the Kansas City Chiefs. In England, a new model named Twiggy made mini-skirts popular and in San Francisco it was The Summer of Love. The Beatles released the album Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the first issue of Rolling Stone Magazine was published.
But more importantly for this auction lot, it was a splendid growing season in Piemonte, Italy, and the grapes for these magnificent Barolos were harvested and made into these wines. Barolo, hailing from Italy’s Piemonte region, made from the Nebbiolo grape, is often described as Italy’s greatest wine.
1967 was an outstanding vintage in Italy and the best of the decade. Good growing conditions produced full-bodied wines and these 50 year-old-wines are still showing strong and vibrant, with years still left on them.
These wines have been stored in optimal conditions, in an acclaimed winemaker’s cellar. Just waiting for you to celebrate their 50th birthday.
