The Year 1980. The year is 1980. The United States Olympic Ice Hockey Team stuns the Soviet Union in what is regarded as one of the greatest upsets in sports history. Stanley Kubrick releases the classic horror film, “The Shining.” The Rubik’s Cube leaves the nation puzzled. Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust” tops billboard charts worldwide. Mount St. Helens erupts. Ronald Reagan is elected President of the United States. The population of the world is 4.45 billion.
One of only 100 bottles in this vintage collection, the 1980 Old Fashioned Copper (O.F.C.) bourbon is exceptionally rare. Packaged in a hand-cut crystal bottle inspired by a decanter dating back to the 1900s, this whiskey arrives in a dark wooden box with revolving door and the O.F.C. name in copper.
This collectible bourbon pays honor to the O.F.C. Distillery, a National Historic Landmark which is know today as the Buffalo Trace Distillery located in Frankfort, Kentucky. The O.F.C. Distillery was christened by Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. and was one of the most state-of-the-art distlleries of its era. Their first-of-its-kind steam heating system is still used in aging warehouses today.
This O.F.C. bourbon is part of a 200 bottle limited release distributed to charities across the county to help raise funds to support their work in the community. Living Jazz Organization is honored to be a recipient of this bottle to further its mission to launch unique music education and performance programs that instill confidence, responsibility and ambition in children all ages and backgrounds to reach their personal and creative potential; and unite diverse communities through their shared love of jazz and related genres.
