Item Description
This Colorful Life
Each year, 2nd Graders study the amazing life and art of Freiderich Hundertwasser. He didn't like straight lines, but was fascinated with curves, spirals and color. He saw spirals as a symbol of life and nature. Like human life, they have a beginning, or point of conception. Then as they grow they become larger and more full. Hundertwasser also believed that nature plus beauty equals happiness. He often combined the elements of nature and the organic lines we find in the world around us with human-made elements like buildings, melding them into beautiful works of art. Based on what they learned, the 2nd Graders each created their own small piece of art, then contributed to the large one.
