Item Description
2007 Seghesio Home Ranch Zinfandel - Magnum
Item Special Note
93 points Wine Spectator: "Rich, powerful and ripe, yet supple and still balanced. Though jammed with personality, this is focused and complex. Shows aromas of black cherry and licorice, with dense plum, cracked pepper and espresso flavors that finish with ripe tannins. Approachable now, but better in a few years. Drink now through 2015." (12/09) Seghesio's "Home Ranch" vineyard was planted in 1895. This head-trained, Alexander Valley site faired better than well in 2007. In fact, ordinarly reserved winemaker Ted Seghesio calls this their "best vintage to date." Sweet graham cracker and briar fruit aromas lure you in. If you can pull your nose far enough out of the glass to tilt it back and drink the wine, you'll experience mouth-filling berry fruit, cracked black pepper, smoke and cocoa powder flavors framed with focused old vine acidity and fine, ripe tannins. This is a classic Zin that will drink well for upwards of a decade.
