Item Description
Born in 1979 in New Jersey, American painter, Brian Coleman is inspired by architecture, interiors, geometric and organic form. He studied graphic design at the Art Institute of Charlotte. Over the years, Coleman developed his style by working with emotions and experiences. He builds layered surfaces to create environments where pieces either connect or drift away from one another, mirroring our surroundings and lives that are forever changing. Regarding Coleman’s work, Jeffrey McCullough stated that "this is the best body of work I have seen…in three years. This work is exciting. Shouldn't art be exciting?” in the Jeffrey McCullough’s under a Southern Influence: Great American Art & Design blog. Coleman’s work and reputation continues to spread from coast to coast and has landed him several large scale commissions and collaborations. His commissioned works can be found in the lobby of 1250 Broadway (NYC), the Mandarin Oriental Hotel (Atlanta, GA), and The Spectator Hotel (Charleston, SC) to name a few. In the article “12 Artists You Need to Know,” by Carrie Waller, Coleman’s art is described as “surely fated for the history books.” Coleman looks forward to introducing his works internationally while his style, experience and audience expands.
