Item Description
Come up to Camp Greenstone, the Earp / Hurt cabin on a beautiful meadow at the end of a dirt road in Dorrington, CA (up highway 4, about a 3 hour drive from Oakland) for a weekend filled with memories. We will drive up on Friday, August 25th, in the afternoon and enjoy dinner at the cabin, a campfire, s’mores and star-gazing. We will spend Saturday canoeing, swimming, fishing and relaxing on a high alpine lake. We’ll cook dinner at the lake over a campfire and, depending on the wishes of the group and the weather, we can either camp out at the lake or head back to the cabin to sleep. Sunday morning if we camped at the lake we’ll paddle around before heading back to the cabin for lunch, or if we spent the night at the cabin we will go for a hike through the giant redwood groves at nearby Big Trees State Park, before lunch at the cabin and then a leisurely drive home.
We’ll provide all food, canoes, fishing gear, tents and sleeping pads – just bring hiking shoes, towels, swimwear and a sleeping bag. And, as a bonus, this will be a great digital detox – there is no cell phone service at the cabin and no TV - we encourage you to leave laptops etc. at home (there is a landline if needed). Bring books, games, your favorite music.
Item Special Note
Open to three parent/child pairs of current 5th graders. $200 per parent/child pair.
