Item Description
A special 90 minute Qigong workshop customized for up to five people in the home garden studio of GeartMind T'ai Chi.
Gather your friends, family or co-workers for a customized moving meditation class in the Chinese healing tradition of Qigong. There is no experience with T'ai Chi or Qigong needed to take part in this event. The session will be created and scheduled specifically for the participants and will focus on relaxing, rejuvenating and balancing the mind and body.
Developed and refined over thousands of years, Qigong is an ancient Chinese healing art that strives to nourish, cultivate, balance and increase awareness of the energy flow in our bodies. The benefits of Qigong are far reaching and not only reduce stress and promote greater physical health, but also encourage a more profound connection to ourselves and the world around us. Qigong is a system of gentle and graceful movements that is practiced with mindfulness toward alignment, deep breath cycles and a calm, meditative state of mental relaxation. This work of “Qi” or (Chi) can ultimately help us tap into our own internal ability to heal ourselves, empower our hearts and become more self-reliant.
I love bringing the work of T'ai Chi and Qigong to all arenas of life; from teens in arts programs to patients at the Othmer Cancer Center in Brooklyn, New York. I have taught T'ai Chi to undergraduate and graduate students at California Institute of the Arts, Loyola Marymount University, Occidental College and more recently have begun working with elementary age children to cultivate patience and mindfulness through the lens of these ancient traditions.
My weekly T'ai Chi classes are rooted in the Yang Style Long Form (108) and my Qigong classes draw from many forms such as Bu Zheng Qigong, The Nine Phases of Qi Cultivation, The Eight Brocades, and Five Elements. I strive to bring these practices together in a way that create physical health, inner awareness, and healing.
I began my practice of The Yang Style Long Form of T’ai Chi Chuan over twenty-four years ago under the guidance of Sherry Tschernisch in Los Angeles, California. My training and inspiration has continued throughout the years with such renowned teachers as Dr. Roger Jahnke OMD of the Institute for Integral Qigong and T’ai Chi and Daoist Scholar Solala Towler.
