Bodegas Muga Reserva Unfiltered 2010, Rioja, Spain

Vinous 92:

(70% tempranillo, 20% garnacha, 7% mazuelo and 3% graciano; fermented in large oak vats and aged for 24 months in oak casks of varying size): Opaque ruby. Musky, deeply pitched aromas of ripe red fruit, game, lavender and roasted coffee. Shows very good spicy lift in the mouth, offering sweet raspberry and cherry flavors and an undercurrent of smoky minerals. Finishes with excellent focus and thrust; the slowly building tannins meld smoothly with the wine's dense fruit.

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco 2009, Piedmont, Italy

Wine Spectator 93:

Bright cherry, strawberry, floral, licorice and herbal aromas and flavors highlight this fragrant, elegant red, which is silky and pure, with fine ripe tannins for support. Shows excellent length, with an aftertaste of fruit, spice and mineral. Best from 2015 through 2028

Larose-Trintaudon 2009, Haut Medoc, Bordeaux, France

Wine Advocate 91:

The Larose Trintaudon is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. This 2009 has a very refined, “classic” bouquet with sous-bois, tobacco and broody dark fruits. The delineation is terrific. The palate is medium-bodied with very fine tannins, great tension with crisp black, mineral-laden fruits on the finish. Bon vin! It is ideal for drinking over the next decade.

Château L'Hermitage 2005, St Emilion, Bordeaux, France

Wine Advocate 91:

L’Hermitage, one of the original garagiste estates, is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc from a small 9-acre site sandwiched between such titans of St.-Emilion as Beausejour-Duffau and Angelus. The 2005 is typically pure, medium to full-bodied, opulent, and showy, with more elegance (largely because of its fresh, lively acidity) and serious structure than usual. Its intense aromatics of blackberry, black cherry, and herbs is backed-up by a full-bodied wine possessing ripe tannin as well as outstanding weight, length, and overall harmony.
