Item Description
Enjoy a unique and exclusive opportunity to experience a private showing of Paul Sack's personal collection on the history of photography. All of the photographs were printed by the original photographer within one year of the snap of the camera. Many of these photographs have been displayed at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the de Young Museum and are collected in Taking Place, a photography book published by SFMOMA. The rare, vintage photographs span more than 150 years from the invention of the medium through the 20th Century. Included in the collection are photographs by noted American and international photographers, including Margaret Bourke-White, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ansel Adams, Mathew Brady, Lewis Carroll, Edward Weston, Walker Evans, Diane Arbus, Dorothea Lange, Edward Steichen Eugene Atget, Man Ray, Imogene Cunningham, and Alfred Stieglitz. Mr. Sack, a Prep grandfather, will give a personal showing of his collection at his climate controlled, fire protected storage and presentation office in downtown San Francisco at 111 Pine Street. Prep photography teacher, Dan Battle will meet you there and join in the tour. CPS students welcome to sign up for this event.
