Item Special Note

Mark learned to cook Italian food from his Italian grandmother at her home where she passed on to him the family recipes from Calabria. Marie’s parents both grew up on farms, where she experienced adventurous ethnic dishes with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. They enjoy building community and engaging in good conversation by welcoming people into their home to partake of the fruits of their labor.

Mark Calabria is of Italian and Ecuadorian descent and was born in Albany, New York. Marie Calabria was born in Ireland and came to the United States after college. Both raised in large families, they realized they each had a love of good food and hosting large family gatherings. They designed their kitchen to accommodate many people at the same time because growing up it seemed that everyone gathered in the kitchen. Mark learned to cook Italian food while working as an engineering Co-op student in New Jersey. He regularly visited his Italian grandmother at her home where she passed on to him the family recipes from Calabria. Marie’s parents both grew up on farms. Each year they grew their own vegetables and processed their own meats sourced from local and family farms. Marie’s mother was very adventurous in her cooking, serving Greek, Indian, and Italian food to her family in addition to the homegrown vegetables, season fresh fish and locally sourced meats and dairy.
Today they continue to honor their upbringings by cooking from scratch, sourcing natural ingredients, and have recently delved into gluten and dairy free cooking. They enjoy building community and engaging in good conversation by welcoming people into their home to partake of the fruits of their labor.
