Item Description
The shape and condition of our bodies is the sum of all the ways we move (or don't move) over time, our physical and emotional histories, and even our attitudes and thought patterns. Patterns that have caused injury, pain, or tension can be unwound and the body reeducated with massage therapy and other types of bodywork.
The Integrated Bodywork Center of Brooklyn houses the private practice of Sarah Lazarus, a licensed massage therapist trained in multiple healing methods, as well as Danu Physical Therapy, specializing in pelvic health (please visit Danu's website for more information). Sarah's work reduces clients' pain and helps them return to their favorite activities by unwinding patterns and getting to the source of physical tension. Clients become more conscious of what is going on in their bodies and how their habits are affecting them, and, best of all, most report a sense of deep peace and connection that carries through to their relationships and work lives.
Bodywork Approach
Each massage session integrates a variety of techniques to address the immediate needs of your muscle and connective tissue. Some are deep, some light; some target specific structures and some work to integrate change throughout the body.
You may come in with an acutely painful condition, chronic tension and pain, an old injury that has changed your posture and made it more difficult to do the things you love, or a simple desire to relax, feel better, and move with greater freedom. Whatever your goals for your massage are, you can expect thoughtful, effective work and real results.
As tight muscles are released and restrictions in the connective tissue eased, your body's structures are able to come into more optimal relationship. Working layer by layer, the larger patterns that have taken shape across the body reveal themselves and unwind. Recommendations for self-care and a treatment plan for our work together are always in the conversation.
