Item Description
The 2017 Moab Century Tour is September 23rd, 2017. 40 mile, 65 miles, and 100 mile ride options available.
The Moab Century Tour encompasses an inspiring variety of landscape to awaken the cycling spirit. This spectacular route rises from the Moab Valley into the sculptured Redrock canyons of Dead Horse Point State Park. Take in the sweet sage of the desert as you make your way to the Earth's edge overlooking the Colorado River two thousand feet below. Like any good bike ride this has a thrilling descent back into Moab. To reach the magical one hundred number take the spur along the Colorado River joining with other cyclists on the Rolling Down The River Route. You’ll return feeling a huge sense of accomplishment and completely inspired by the grand scale of this magical place.
Rolling Down the River travels along Highway 279 and is a favorite among local roadies because of its unbroken cadence. After passing through "The Portal," the Colorado River begins its cut through the impressive sandstone. The road meanders alongside the tranquil river, maintaining a flat profile through some of the most astounding topography imaginable. Redrock walls rise hundreds of feet straight up from the shoulder of the road as it cuts tightly along the river. For miles you'll spot climbers plying the walls of “Wall Street” next to 1,000-year-old Anasazi petroglyphs carved in the ancient rock wall.
Channeling the energy riding through the grandeur of Moab's Canyon Country is bound to inspire. For most riders, cycling is more than just a release; it can help define a deeper sense of purpose. To add to that purpose, the Moab Century Tour was created. It is an annual fundraiser to benefit cancer survivorship programs. By focusing proceeds of the tour with foundations making a difference for survivors, each participant becomes a powerful force against cancer.
