The paintings, drawings and etchings of this great artist have been admired for centuries. In America alone there are major collections of his paintings and etchings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Morgan Library, the Boston Museum of Fine arts and the Art Institute of Chicago. His etchings have been collected for 450 years and appear regularly at auction at Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Swann. Here Rembrandt illustrates one of the stories from the Book of Tobit, in the Apocrypha.
