Item Description
Professionally framed 19"x26" Helmand canvas print by Nester Hernandez with Certificate of Authenticity
Marine Sergeant, USMC Nester Hernandez was wounded in Afghanistan Oct 5th 2010, Purple Heart recipient. Once back in the United States In December 2010, Hernandez began putting the paint to the canvas and has not stopped since. He was always into art since his grade school days and participated in art events at Eldorado High School. Once in the Marines, art took a back seat. Since his Honorable discharge in March 2011.Hernandez first started painting late at night when he couldn't sleep due to the horrific dreams that filled his head, ' I wasn't going to allow all the bad that I went through while in Afghanistan to control what little I had that was good in my life.' 'So much that I've seen has been taken or lost. With my Art I feel like I'm creating life where there was nothing but a blank white canvas.' Painting for Hernandez has been a form of therapy for him. Art has helped him get through the days and nights that were once filled with bad memories. Hernandez said 'Now I can in turn help others by donating my artwork to charity auctions'. Hernandez now devotes 100% of his time creating one of a kind custom acrylic artwork pieces as well as commissioned portraits.
