Item Description

This piece of artwork is Untitled, 2016 (as are most of his study pieces). The artwork is drawn on a piece of high quality vellum. Measures 10" x 13".
 
Geoff McFetridge’s stylized paintings of figures and hands in patterned formations have their roots in the synergy between his fine arts practice and prolific career as a graphic designer. Working in a simple palette of grays, blues, whites, and pinks, he places his subjects in humorous and everyday scenarios.

Geoff McFetridge has mounted solo exhibitions of his work in New York, Berlin, London, Paris and Tokyo and has shown in galleries and museums across the globe. In addition to paintings, his installations have included everything from furniture to film, fabrics and silkscreened wallpaper. 
 
A graduate of Cal Arts, his practice has existed equally in the world of graphic design, creating graphics and logotypes for companies such as ESPN, Nike, Pepsi, Patagonia and others. McFetridge served as art director for the acclaimed underground Beastie Boys magazine  Grand Royal and pioneered the design studio Champion Graphics which, works both with large, international brands and helps to establish new ones. He designed film title sequences for  The Virgin Suicides and  Adaptation, as well as all interface graphics for the feature film  Her.
 
Born 1971 in Calgary, Canada, McFetridge currently lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. He is the winner of the 2016 Cooper-Hewitt Smithsonian National Design Award.
