Item Description

Behrens Family Winery 4 Bottles

Wooden box containing one 750ml bottle of each of the following Behrens Family Wines:

1- 2015 La Danza, Sauvignon Blanc

2- 2012 Homeland, Cabernet Sauvignon

3- 2011 The Answer, Napa Valley Red Wine

4- 2010 The Heavyweight, Napa Valley Red Wine

2015 La Danza: Loaded with aromas of ripe summer melons, juicy nectarine, bright grapefruit zest and gooseberry, this Sauvignon Blanc/Sauvignon Musque blend is succulent and mouthwatering. A delicate floral lift of honeysuckle, green almonds and tropical notes of guava, along with a firm vein of minerality lead to a long creamy finish. 50% Sauvignon Blanc, 50% Sauvignon Musqué. 170 cases.

2012 Homeland: Get ready for the premiere of Homeland. A candy-cherry nose, loaded with floral, black plum and licorice notes, this powerful and lively wine is balanced with a firm tannin structure. Blackberry jam, raspberry and graphite minerality extend into the lengthy finish. We have worked for years with this vineyard, north of Napa town, which is also the Merlot source for our Frontman. We are happy to create this expressive Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and to call it Homeland. 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot, 3% Petite Sirah, 2% Syrah. 482 cases.

2011 The Answer:

92 Vinous:  “...bursts from the glass with blackberry jam, cloves, menthol, grilled herbs, tar and licorice. Juicy, immediate and expressive, the 2011 is long on pure appeal.”

89-91 Robert M. Parker Jr.: “...reveals attractive black currant fruit and licorice as well as a touch of acacia flowers.”

2010 The Heavyweight: Currants, pomegranate notes and violets jump from the glass in this beautifully structured and balance wine. From the deep magenta color to the rich and varied flavors of mocha, cassis and sweet oak, to the long and generous finish with notes of cherry cola and cedar, this wine strikes all the right chords and doesn’t pull any punches. 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot. 252 cases.

Behrens Family Winery is a boutique winery in the truest sense. Owned by Les Behrens and Lisa Drinkward, who’ve made wine under the Behrens & Hitchcock label since 1993, Behrens Family Winery produces small lots of six or seven wines a year at its winery perched high on top of Spring Mountain in Napa Valley. Each wine is a low-tech labor of love: crushed into one-ton T-bins, punched down by hand, gently transferred to barrel, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. One only has to look at Les and Lisa’s hands during harvest to know their wines are truly “hand-crafted.” The couple also gravitates toward small, interesting and low-yielding vineyard sites, working with growers who they know, like and trust, and who are as obsessive about quality as they are. For Les and Lisa, it’s all about letting the vineyards steal the show, and allowing the wines to speak for themselves.
