Born in Nancy / France in 1956 and a graduate Major from the National School of Fine Arts in Nancy, France, CharlElie is one of the founding members of the “multism”; seeking interconnections between the different forms of expression (visual, writing, and music).
CharlElie has drawn logos, designed watches, created a collection of shoes and composed more than eighteen original soundtracks for films/movies.
In 1981, CharlElie initiated “Local à Louer” a group of artists bringing together photographers, painters and poets. That same year, he published a dazibao known as “Proclamation of a Rock Art ”.
Fascinated by the Internet network, CharlElie was a pioneer on the Web. His website is on line since 1996!
2003 CharlElie moved to settle in New York City.
2011 Dual citizenship French/American.
Over span of 25 years, CharlElie has released 23 original music albums (most recent one "Lafayette" came out May 2016), numerous books of reflexions, poetry and novels, he had at least 110 exhibitions of paintings, photographs and drawings, (France, in Belgium, Switzerland and United States.)
Parallel to his fame as a singer musician, CharlElie continues his research in painting, sculpture and photography that began 30 years ago.
His visual work ( "Photograffs", "Innerportraits", "Constructs", “ Urban landscapes” and “Shower curtains”), is a journey between the conscious identified of the the reality, and the emotional unconscious, he defines as "IN/OUT & OUT/IN ".
His achievment consist in a mental construction devoted to Creation. “There are no borders, neither between people, nor between ideas.” CharlElie
Since thirty year, within a low profile attitude, CharlElie COUTURE is a humble giant. His legend of independence and freedom was built on an incredible body of works dedicated to Art.
