Item Description
This auction is for an original painting titled "Jumping For Joy" created by Campbell, a 13 year old cancer patient. Campbell's painting is a 20" x 20" acrylic on custom wood and canvas wrapped board, coated in high gloss acrylic.
Five young cancer patients had fun creating personal paintings at Dunwoody United Methodist Church on March 5, with guidance from local artist Mark Hedges. The paintings these kids created on that day are more than works of art - they are truly acts of love and triumph.
Cancer is bad enough. But when it affects a child, it is especially devastating. These kids deserve a chance to enjoy life, laugh and have fun. To dream and to create. To grow up. Your donation from your winning bid can help them do just that - and this painting will be a beautiful reminder to you and your family of their strength and courage.
Campbell's Story - "Jumping for Joy"
Campbell was diagnosed on May 9, 2016 with stage 3 high risk ovarian germ cell cancer. She had a 5 pound tumor and 5 pounds of cancerous fluid removed along with her ovary and Fallopian tube. She was started on chemo right away which was 5 days in a row in the hospital every 3 weeks for 4 months. In September she had emergency abdominal surgery for an abdominal blockage. Then in December she was hospitalized for 10 days for severe pain. She is now doing physical therapy twice a week and will get scans and blood work every 3 months. Her last scan was all clear! Campbell has been amazing through her entire journey finding hope and laughter in every situation.
