Item Description

Worcester artist, Ashley Ferencik, has donated a hand-picked selection of a variety hand crafted jewelry items from her OddWear collection. She specializes in miniature food as well as other unique creations. Check out her pieces online here.

Ashley talks about process here:

"All of my pieces are hand crafted using polymer clay and occasionally cold porcelain along with other supplies (glaze, paint, findings, etc). The clay starts out as a block of solid color, it then needs to be softened by hand (conditioned) and then mixed with other colors to make new colors, just like paint! Next I shape and sculpt, ply and texture the raw clay this part of the process is the longest and most fun! Finishing touches are added by gently dusting the raw piece with specific combinations of dry pastels and or other texturing elements and faceted with findings.Once I'm sure its perfect, its off to the oven, where the piece bakes and hardens. Then once cooled, sanding may take place, and then painting with acrylic paints or alcohol inks brings us to its last stage, glaze. I use different glazes for different pieces depending on the desired look, a glaze is required to keep all of the detail intact. A single item can takes anywhere from 2 hours to several weeks to produce. Custom possibilities are endless, as I can create most things to look lifelike. I'm proud to share my work with all of you, I hope you enjoy!"
