Item Description

A trained Ano Nuevo docent (Kris Cannon) will guide you through the elephant seal rookery with the information and discussion appropriate for your group, in the late afternoon when the public vistors have left the park.

Date and time to be mutally agreed upon:  Sometime between January 8, 2018 through February 21, 2018, 3:00pm to 5:00pm.  These 6 weeks are considered the height of the mating and breeding season and will provide the best viewing of elephant seals.

During the breeding season, daily access to the Natural Preserve is available only via guided walks.  This is the time when the male elephants seals battle on the beaches for the right to mate and the females give birth to their pups on the dunes.  Most of the adult seals are gone by early March, leaving behind the weaned pups who remain through April.

These popular three-to-four mile walks over rolling sand dunes last 2.5 hours and are considered moderately strenuous.

Included in this item are:  TWO elephant seal stuffed animals, Ano Nueva: A Children's Guide; A Colony of Seals by Jean-Michel Cousteau.

The value of the soft goods is $32 but this private guided walk for EIGHT is priceless as it can only be offered by currently volunteering and qualified docents.

Item Special Note

Date must be between 1/8/18 and 2/21/18 between 3-5pm, as mutally agreed with Kris Cannon.
