Item Description

Zehorit was born in Israel to a Yemenite immigrant family. Growing up in multi-cultural Givat Olga, she experienced Israel’s rich ethnic diversity through food and celebration. She brings to the kitchen her Mediterranean roots and her passion for healthy and flavorful dishes. Zehorit is the creator of Zecooks LLC, her own website/blog as well as Mideast to Midwest, her line of Mideast inspired foods.

Spice up your Shabbat table with the following items from the Mideast to Midwest line. All foods are made fresh, weekly.

  • Pita - Israeli style, soft pocket bread: fill with your choice of veggies and spreads or use it to scoop dips such as hummus. Bag of 6 Pita.

  • Hummus - Popular garbanzo bean spread, zesty and garlicky. Serve as a dip with vegetables or pita, also use as a spread on sandwiches.

  • Hatzilim - This flavorful eggplant cooked with tomatoes and spices in olive oil, is a popular appetizer in the Middle East. Serve as a dip with vegetables or pita, use as a spread on sandwiches or even heat it and top cooked rice or mashed potatoes.

  • Cinnamon Challah - This unique challah boasts an internal cinnamon swirl, adding sweetness and spice. At our very informal Shabbat table, we normally tear into our challah. Our one exception is the cinnamon challah – which we slice to showcase the yummy cinnamon swirl at its heart.

  • Chocolate babka - This rich, brioche-like dough is layered with a chocolate filling and laced with a hint of cinnamon. As it gets out of the oven, hot and heavenly it gets a warm drizzle of syrup. Wonderful at room temperature with a cup of tea or coffee, even better warmed up. Freezes well, about 10 servings.
