Artist's Statement created by Ann Bowker, April 2017:
Ann Finch Byerrum (1945-2005) was an artist as a child. She shared her creativity as a practicing artist and teacher, emphasizing SEEING rather than just LOOKING.
Anne's arts education included work at:
- Massachusetts College of Art, Boston
- Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NW: printmaking and painting
- Central Washington University
- Lesley College, Cambridge, MA where she earned two MA's in Art and Education
A limited list of Anne's awards and recognitions includes:
- Art Administrator of the Year, WA Art Education Association
- Japan Arts Education Ambassadorship
- Kennedy Center Award for Allied Arts' Arts Van Program, Yakima, WA
Anne's extensive exhibit list includes:

In the years that Anne spent in Yakima she served as a teacher, then Allied Arts Director and Fine Arts Director in the Yakima School District.
She was a dedicated arts advocate during her 60 years of life.
This artist's print is a gift to the Yakima Symphony Orchestra's 2017 Raise the Baton Gala Fundraiser by Ann Bowker and Norm Walker.
