Item Description
The village of Vosne Romanée certainly produces the most complex and finished wines of the Côte de Nuits. The pinot noir is displayed at its best, with fragrances of intense ripe blackcurrants, raspberries and blackberries this wine feels ample in the mouth. Well structured with rich tannins it will do well with decanting or can be cellared up to 15 years.
This appellation covers about 150 hectares, the vines are about 30 years old located in the foothills on a low slope facing east at 250m altitude. These pinot grapes have been hand-picked and aged for 18 months in oak barrels.
Manuel Olivier is a young and talented winemaker of Hautes Côtes de Nuits. Coming from a family of farmers, Manuel followed an unusual path, starting with a few acres of vines in 1990 while growing berries. It now operates more than 10 hectares of vineyards in the Hautes Côtes de Nuits, but also Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.
