Item Description
$100 gift certificate to Bob's Clam Hut and (2) tickets to any show at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre.
Established in 1956 on busy Route One long before that stretch became bustling and busy with Kittery's outlet shops, Bob’s was the locals' golden fried standard. Now Bob's is a favorite spot for locals and travelers alike. We hear it from our guests: no trip to Maine is complete without a meal at Bob's Clam Hut.
Bob's is committed to serving traditional Maine fried seafood with straightforward simplicity. Our clams are always fresh, which means daily deliveries--we're too small to store more than that anyway. We use "specials," which are clams hand-selected for consistent size and quality. We follow the original Bob's recipes, including the famous tartar sauce. Customer favorites include Bob's New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Stew, the traditional Bob's fried clams, and the Lillian fried clams. The volume of fryolator oil we go through amazes our suppliers--our oil cleanliness standards are second to none. Our staff uses the same cook-to-order system that Bob and his family developed way back when the Clam Hut first opened.
While few things have changed at Bob's since 1956, one major shift is a new commitment to the environment and sustainability. Recent innovations include implementing composting, changing from paper plates and baskets to reusable plastic plates, and switching from plastic to compostable cutlery. As always, our parking lot is not paved, which helps protect adjacent Spruce Creek from harmful runoff.
Perhaps the thing we value most is having a happy and motivated staff. Our employees are some of the most talented, dedicated folks around. We respond with profit sharing, open financial reporting--everyone knows how we are doing financially--and most importantly, the whole staff is involved in making important decisions about how to keep Bob's great. Bob's has been featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and was awarded Restaurant Business Magazine's "The Best of Everything" for fried clams. Downeast.com, the "Magazine of Maine" awarded us Best Fried Clams, as did NECN 2 years in a row. And Forbes Magazine said we were one of their favorite restaurants in the US.
We think of Bob's as a "Corny Little (gourmet) Clam Hut by the Side of the Road," where we are fanatical about quality seafood, and have been for a very long time. Come visit us soon!
