Item Special Note
Lauren Bakst is a natural born artist from New York. From a very young age, Lauren always has expressed her artistic ability through her drawings, artwork, graphic design and paintings. Because of Lauren’s verbal communication disability, art was always a venue for her to express her emotions and creativity without being judged. Lauren attended high school at Winston Prep School in Manhattan, NY. After she graduated, she moved down to Florida in August of 2009, where she began attending Broward College in Davie, and pursuing her degree in graphic design. It was a long sometimes-tough road for Lauren, but her determination, hard work, and confidence finally paid off. After seven (7) years she graduated with her AS in Graphic Design with high honors. This was a very proud and fulfilling moment for Lauren, her family and all those that have supported her along the way. Here is where the College Living Experience program, played a huge part in Lauren achieving her goals and dreams. Through the support of mentors, academic tutors, and friends, Lauren found in CLE a safe place for help and assistance available any time she needed it. Lauren has continued her studies after her graduation and is currently taking an oil painting class in order to hone her artistic skills. She has presented CLE with a collection of her acrylic paintings completed in her spare time, so that they can be donated to EFFI. A program that will facilitate other students with exceptionalities get the assistance they need, and have all the opportunities she was very fortunate to of had.
